Recursive Implementation of Anisotropic Filters

چکیده

Gaussian filter is widely used for image smoothing but it is well known that this type of filters blur the image features (e.g., edges). Two extensions of Gaussian filters will be discussed in this survey. One is the anisotropic filtering (bilateral filtering or PDE-based anisotropic diffusion) for feature-preserving smoothing and the other is the recursive implementation of various filters that can largely reduce the computational time in certain conditions. We will also discuss the combination of anisotropic filtering and recursive implementation for image smoothing such that the anisotropic smoothing could be done in a fast way.

Gaussian filters are widely used for image smoothing but it is well known that this type of filters blur the image features (e.g., edges). Anisotropic filtering draws more and more attention for its ability of featurepreserving smoothing. However, most existing anisotropic filters are quite time-consuming. In this report I will discuss the combination of anisotropic filtering and recursive impl...

Fast Anisotropic Gauss Filtering

We derive the decomposition of the anisotropic Gaussian in a one-dimensional (1-D) Gauss filter in the x-direction followed by a 1-D filter in a nonorthogonal direction phi. So also the anisotropic Gaussian can be decomposed by dimension. This appears to be extremely efficient from a computing perspective. An implementation scheme for normal convolution and for recursive filtering is proposed. ...

A Novel Reference Current Calculation Method for Shunt Active Power Filters using a Recursive Algebraic Approach

This paper presents a novel method to calculate the reference source current and the referencecompensating current for shunt active power filters (SAPFs). This method first calculates theamplitude and phase of the fundamental load current from a recursive algebraic approach blockbefore calculating the displacement power factor. Next, the amplitude of the reference mains currentis computed with ...

Recursivity and PDE's in Image Processing

Recursive filtering structures reduce drastically the computational effort required for different tasks in image processing. These operations are done with a fixed number of operations per output point independently of the size of the neighbourhood considered. In this paper we show that implicit numerical implementations of some partial differential equations (PDE’s) provide algorithms that can...

Recursive Training of 2D-3D Convolutional Networks for Neuronal Boundary Prediction

Efforts to automate the reconstruction of neural circuits from 3D electron microscopic (EM) brain images are critical for the field of connectomics. An important computation for reconstruction is the detection of neuronal boundaries. Images acquired by serial section EM, a leading 3D EM technique, are highly anisotropic, with inferior quality along the third dimension. For such images, the 2D m...
